Local Newport/Costa Mesa consulting company here. Same as older reviews as in 2017 and 2015. Joe will remain Joe. Slow turnaround time, questionable quality and they installed an interior sign in a permanent fashion. When it came for removal. I called Gerard's to remove it and his staff needed a crowbar to take it off the wall. of course it got damaged.
I come to find out the edges of the sign was made out of a whole bunch of foam - my finger nail can dig into it. I got charged a not only full premium for the repair/patchwork, but $95 dollars for his guy to come 3 blocks away and spend 5 minutes with a crowbar. Funny, during the patchwork. I ask for a sort of bracket so it doesn't get permanently installed again. They don't add the bracket and offer to install it again, oh hell no. made that mistake once. Definitely not coming back to conduct any additional business here.

Took nearly 3 months to receive an exterior and interior sign. Upon moving offices I found out they fixated the sign in a permanent manner, the only way to remove the sign was by taking a crow bar. His own staff took this approach. It damaged of course and he charges me every bit to fix it up without any flexibility. The sign was made of what appeared to be a plastic foam material so it was pretty weak, raises questions about the quality. decent looking sign. Poor experience from beginning to end.

DON'T waste your time with this guy Joe Gerard owner. Their price was much higher, they would not give a completion date (we were asking for it by 21 days.really) and he has an Egotistical 'I am so great' attitude. Said he had been in business 40 years and doing pretty darn well. I believe the tides are about to change Joe. Got the sign done for less, in less than 10 days and it is amazing. Go Home Joe. Nobody likes an RUDE EGO-Maniac!

I was given a quote and waited patiently for weeks for the staff to get to my small job as I was assured by Matt that help was on the way. When the staff ran into some small obstacles with my job, I received an email saying that they were going to have to pass on the job entirely. No recommendation of who can help me, just good bye. WTF? Really? It's important that people honor their word in the business world no matter the size of the job. Very disappointed with the way I was treated. I will not be back.

My experience with Gerard Signs and Joe was terrific. I like to support locally owned family businesses since we have one ourselves. We had our logo and concept in mind. Wanted to keep business in Costa Mesa and have had excellent experiences with Gerard, even if we might have to pay a little more. That was my thought, but the came in way under budget and provided us with an exceptional sign. You can get more buying local and this long established local business proves just that. I worked for this amazing sign company 30 years ago. I have since worked with many other sign companies thru out Southern California. Joe Gerard Signs is by far the Very Best.
